Customers' cars

Keep a record of each customer's car, with every job, quote, bay booking and inspection on it.

A customer's car has its own record, kept apart from your fleet. It never appears on the map, and it never counts towards your vehicles.

Open a customer from People › Contacts and go to Vehicles.

Add a car

Press Add a car and enter the registration. Make, model, year, colour, mileage, VIN and notes are optional.

You do not have to add cars by hand. When a quote, job or bay booking names a registration, the car is created and linked for you. abc 123 and ABC-123 count as the same car.

See a car's history

Click a car to open it under its row. Every job, quote, bay booking and inspection is listed, and clicking a job, quote or inspection opens it.

Use a saved car

On a new quote, work order, inspection or bay booking, search by registration under Find a saved car, or tap one of the customer's cars. On a quote, work order or inspection, finding the car first fills in the customer too.

Press ⌘K anywhere and type part of a registration to jump to the car.

When a car changes owner

Change the owner on the car's record. Past visits keep the customer who paid for them.

Service reminders

Set Next service on a car, or let Yipii set it: completing a job of the Preventive type puts the next date on the car, using the number of months you choose.

Switch on Service reminders under Finance › Booking forms › Customer messages. Customers are told once for each due date, the number of days ahead you choose, by your usual channel. Nothing goes to a customer with work booked in, a car overdue by more than 60 days, or a customer marked No service reminders.

Cars coming due are listed at the top of Servicing › Due & overdue.

Who can do what

Office staff can add and change cars. Mechanics can find a car but not change it.
